How each platform's fees are calculated
The formulas the calculator uses, with worked examples at $30 and $50 a ticket, one ticket per order, in NZD. Where you choose who pays, the examples assume fees are passed to the buyer unless noted.
Eventbrite fees calculator (New Zealand)
Formula: a service fee of 4.2% of the ticket price + $0.55 per ticket, plus 15% GST unless you give Eventbrite a GST number, and a payment processing fee of 2.4% of the order total. Both are added to the buyer by default. (Eventbrite's NZ pricing page currently shows US rates; these are the NZ rates from its help centre.)
$30 ticket: buyer pays about $32.85. $50 ticket: about $54.32. Without GST on the service fee: $32.57 and $53.91.
Humanitix fees calculator (NZD)
Formula: 5% of the ticket price + $0.49 per paid ticket, plus 15% GST, with card processing included. Passed to the buyer by default.
$30 ticket: buyer pays $32.29. $50 ticket: buyer pays $53.44. You receive the full ticket price.
Eventfinda fees calculator
Formula: a booking fee paid by the buyer ($1.20 to $3.85 depending on ticket price; $3.30 for tickets $24 to $99), a service fee paid by you ($1.00 to $1.75, or 3% above $99), and a 2.5% card fee, usually passed to the buyer. Fees include GST.
$30 ticket: buyer pays $34.05, you receive $28.25. $50 ticket: buyer pays $54.55, you receive $48.25.
TryBooking fees calculator (NZ)
Formula: $0.50 per ticket + 2.5% processing, GST included. You choose who pays; most organisers pass on the 50c and absorb the 2.5%. The calculator applies the 2.5% to the ticket price plus the 50c, as TryBooking does in Australia, so the cents are approximate.
$30 ticket, all fees passed on: buyer pays about $31.26. Usual setup: buyer pays $30.50 and you receive about $29.24.
Ticket Fairy fees (NZD)
Formula: 10% for tickets $25 to $99.99, a flat $2.00 under $15 and $2.50 from $15 to $24.99, 9% from $100 and 8% from $250. Card processing and GST included. Passed to the buyer by default.
$30 ticket: buyer pays $33.00. $50 ticket: buyer pays $55.00.
Tickify fees
Formula: a flat 5% booking fee, always paid by the buyer, with card processing included and nothing added on top.
$30 ticket: buyer pays $31.50. $50 ticket: buyer pays $52.50. You always keep 100% of the ticket price.

Which ticketing platform has the lowest fees in New Zealand?
It depends on your ticket price and who pays. On a $30 ticket with fees passed to the buyer, TryBooking (about $31.26) and Tickify ($31.50) cost buyers the least, followed by Humanitix ($32.29), Eventbrite (about $32.85), Ticket Fairy ($33.00) and Eventfinda ($34.05, where you also pay a $1.75 service fee). Above about $21 a ticket, TryBooking costs buyers slightly less than Tickify if you pass on all its fees; Tickify's 5% includes processing, so you never absorb anything.
